Henry Hilger ’27 is a double major in science preprofessional studies and economics from Ellicott City, Maryland. He now lives off campus after previously residing in Dunne Hall. The Institute for Social Concerns was one of the main reasons he chose Notre Dame and has become one of the most meaningful and rewarding parts of his college experience. Through the institute’s Summer Fellowship Program, he lived in Arlington, Virginia, and worked at L’Arche, a community for adults with intellectual disabilities. On campus, he conducts research under Professor Steven Alvarado on the social determinants of health and how neighborhoods and education shape inequality. He also serves on the Class of 2027 Class Council as a member of the Wellness Committee. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in healthcare policy that combines his interests in healthcare, public policy, economics, and advocacy.
